Last November, the 1st Annual 2nd Ave. Trading Card Show was organized by the good people at Sidekick Media, the Cardhacks and Suckadelic. It was a combo card swap, Star Wars Galaxy 5 die-cut sketch card auction preview, Art Hustle Volume 1 release and Sidekick Media emporium. All of these elements mixed with plenty of Beerlao thanks to Jan, made for an interesting evening in the basement of Toy Tokyo. I bumped into artist extraordinaire Len Bellinger the other night at the Sucklord’s gallery show opening in Chelsea and he tipped me off to this video recap of the 2nd Ave Card Show. By the way, if you haven’t checked out the Sucklord’s new show at Boo-Hooray, you’re asleep at the wheel.
I worked on the Star Wars Galaxy 5 sketch card series last year. It’s an official Star Wars release through Topps Trading Card company, and my buddy Sucklord was the guest curator. The sketch cards are distributed randomly in packs of Star Wars cards sold all over the world, but there are only 2 sketch cards per case of wax boxes, making them very rare and highly collectible. There are some really famous artists involved in this project, and then there are bums like me. Two of my cards are being sold on eBay right now. Have a look!
editor’s note: only a few Burt Banger cards were created as part of a “blue” subset. If you find a Burt Banger card with a blue nose, grab it fast. It’s worth more than your life savings, which I’m assuming is in the $10 range.
…And so it begins….BANG!… from a singularity —-> to an ever-expanding universe. Lots of hot stuff coming through. I’m switching over to wordpress so bear with me for a bit while I figure it out. Until further notice, this site is going to suck.
